Reaction Paper on "IT Outsourcing...Maximize Flexibility and Control" by Lacity, Willcocks and Feeny

On creating a composite team to study specific fields before outsourcing...

This is an excellent idea, however, a nominating committee must first be appointed by top management. This nominating committee must possess a non-political mind and has loyalty to the management. The nominating commitee's task is to scrutinize the personal profile of each nominated member for the five composite team and to verify the qualifications of each nominated person before becoming a composite team member. This includes the loyalty and impartial mind of each member for accomplishing honest results.
On a short-term contract of outsourcing IT providers ...
Although a short term contract gives company owners more flexibility and control over IT providers, it is still intelligent to have a well-meaning and verified Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between two contracting parties so as to displace hidden agenda and costs. This contract must be clearly discussed and argued upon by contracting parties. And, for a contract to become effective, it must be well documented and furnished to each contracting party.
On transferring employees to IT supplier and retaining two experts to manage the contract...
The experts should have been given their new specific job descriptions and guidelines in handling new responsibilities and this includes orientation from the IT provider and with collaboration from the top management.
Conclusion:
For an existing company to continue to flourish, it must be proactive to its experiences. Every minute detail of each significant decision must be well thought and imposed by classified minds that are versed enough to handle strategic tasks.
